Revolutionary TV

RunningTime: Approximately 60 minutes but can be cut to any length

Cast:Flexible cast of 18-68 (9+M, 6+F, plus 3+ roles that can be any)

America isn’t the only one fighting for independence!  Modern-day student Charlie is stuck in detention until she finishes her paper on the Revolutionary War.  Luckily, her friend Jessie turns on Revolutionary TV, a network dedicated to shows about America’s journey to independence that are as entertaining as they are educational.  The two students watch 13 scenes (13 is a lucky number for the colonies, you know!), starting with the Boston Tea Party (in soap opera fashion) and ending with the ratification of the Treaty of Paris as a breaking news story.  In between, the shows vary from rap battles to game shows to sitcoms and even a movie trailer, exposing the students to the Battles at Lexington and Concord, the crossing of the Delaware, the brutal winter at Valley Forge, and the Battle of Yorktown.  They also learn more about the Founding Fathers, discover who was the traitor in the midst of spies, and even meet The Real Housewives of the Revolution.  Interspersed with hysterical commercials, Revolutionary TV gives you all the freedom you desire to produce a play that fits both your cast size and running time.
